Bridgeman Sports & Media proudly announced the appointment of Michele Ghee as CEO of iconic brands EBONY & JET, in time for the celebration of the brand’s 75th year of recounting Black life and its contribution to America. She is honored to serve as the CEO of Bridgeman subsidiary 1145 Holdings, which includes all assets related to Ebony and Jet. The Brand value proposition will be embedded in Information, Inspiration and Inclusion.
In a statement, Ghee wrote, “Everything we say will come through the lens of Black journalists. We will ensure there is a safe space for Black journalism to thrive. I’m a little Black girl from Oakland, CA. I’m not apologizing for any of it. Our voices matter. We are History in the making!”
According to Ghee, Ebony and Jet will hold true to the simple fundamental principles that Mr. Johnson left as an unforgettable legacy–to document stories of Black Culture while raising the brands’ profile to reach a global community.
Eden Bridgeman, owner of Bridgeman Sports & Media, also shares her excitement that Ghee is joining the brand.
“We are honored to have Michele Ghee at the helm to steward these iconic brands. With a proven track record over a storied career thus far and a passion to bring her life experiences to Ebony and Jet we are excited at the future she will create,” Bridgeman said.
Ghee brings in more than two decades of experience working for some of the most powerful companies in the world including WME, CNN, A&E, The History Channel, The Weather Channel and BET Networks.
While at BET, she created and ran the first and only network for black women: BET Her. Over her 20-year career, she has honed her skills in the following areas: leadership, diversity and inclusion, strategy, revenue generation, and relationship building.
