PeopleKirk McDonald named GroupM NA CEO; Dawn Davis to lead Condé Nast’s Bon Appetite

GroupM has appointed Kirk McDonald as its North America (NA) CEO. McDonald most recently served as chief business officer of Xandr, the advertising, and analytics division of WarnerMedia Commercial. 

McDonald’s other roles have included chief marketing officer at AT&T Advertising & Analytics and president of digital at Time Inc. in addition to others.

“The scale and depth of GroupM NA, combined with the organization’s purpose of making advertising work better for clients and people, is the kind of ambitious objective that, when executed properly, will change the world,” McDonald said. 

In the media publishing world, Dawn Davis was named editor-in-chief of Condé Nast’s Bon Appétit magazine. 

She is the first Black woman to hold the title in the magazine’s 64-year history. 

Davis was most recently a publisher at Simon & Schuster, where she founded 37 Ink. 

She has held a number of other roles throughout her 25-year career including senior editor at Random House, and editorial director at HarperCollins Publishers.

“I look forward to working with both the talented team at Bon Appétit and with writers and tastemakers to create an array of intriguing and inclusive recipes and stories about the intersections between food and family, culture, and commerce for our audiences,” Davis said.

She will be responsible for the editorial vision of Bon Appétit and Condé Nast’s food brands Epicurious, Healthyish, and Basically across digital, video, OTT, social, and print platforms.
