Flowers Communications Groups joins as founding sponsor

The Chicago chapter of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), announced the launch of the PRSA Chicago Michelle Flowers Diversity Fellowship, an initiative whose founding sponsor is Flowers Communications Group (FCG). By creating the fellowship, FCG fulfills one of its core values to cultivate the next generation of multicultural communications practitioners.

Two individual awards, each in the amount of $3,000, will be presented to talented communications junior students of African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American, Alaskan Native or Pacific Islander ancestry. The award will also include a paid summer internship between the Diversity Fellow’s junior and senior year.

“It is my hope this program helps to educate college students about our industry, share information about the vast array of great career opportunities, and ultimately inspire the next generation of multicultural communications professionals,” Flowers Welch said in her Instagram post announcing the partnership.

Michelle Welch Flowers is a visionary public relations and marketing expert who is considered a veteran in the field of multicultural communications. She founded FCG in 1991 and has been managing to maintain the firm as one of the nation’s top multicultural integrated marketing agencies for more than two decades now.

Hoping to help students unlock their full potential, the fellowship program will attract and train more diverse professionals to the practice of public relations and communications.

“PRSA Chicago is creating more opportunities to close the diversity gap in the public relations industry by launching the Michelle Flowers Diversity Fellowship Program,” said Dane Roth, president of the PRSA Chicago Chapter. “We must invest in the development of the next generation of multicultural PR practitioners. We are working toward creating a future state of PR that is dynamic, equitable and inclusive.”
